About Sean Powers, DO

Dr. Powers is a double-board certified interventional chronic and cancer pain medicine physician with a background in anesthesiology. He is a former chief resident at Loyola University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in chronic and cancer pain medicine at the University of Utah Health and Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. His philosophy focuses on reducing suffering while increasing function and quality of life through evidence-based, compassionate treatment. Dr. Powers believes in treating pain at its source.

 

 

Dr. Powers performs a variety of minimally-invasive procedures to treat pain, including joint and back injections, radiofrequency ablation, basivertebral nerve ablation, spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, kyphoplasty, intrathecal pain pumps, and more. He sees many patients for consideration for advanced pain management therapies and stays up to date on the latest technology in pain medicine.

 

 

He has extensive training in the treatment of cancer pain as well. He believes that cancer pain management should be collaborative with a patient’s oncology and palliative care providers. He treats pain originating from many types of cancer, especially pancreatic, breast, lung, bone, pelvic, and prostate. He is particularly interested in the treatment of pain originating from metastatic cancer.

 

 

Dr. Powers joined Pain Specialists of Greater Chicago due to its history of treating the community with compassion and treating each person as an individual.
