The Physicians of the Pain Specialists of Greater
Chicago
Many physicians, specialties, and other practitioners
claim to treat pain. Only a few specialize in interventional pain
management exclusively. The physicians at the Pain Specialists of
Greater Chicago have dedicated their careers to the comprehensive
and minimally invasive treatment of pain. Whenever possible, conservative
and non-invasive treatment is utilized for pain. For individuals
who do not respond to conservative treatment or who cannot tolerate
their pain they offer most modern and advanced minimally invasive
techniques to treat painful symptoms safely and effectively. They
approach each individual and their pain with one goal in mind -
to reduce their symptoms and to improve their quality of life. As
these goals are accomplished, they work closely with the spinal
specialists in physical therapy and rehabilitation to maximize the
beneficial results of treatment and restore function and vitality.
For those individuals injured on the job, the treatments and therapy
are geared to control the pain as quickly as possible to allow the
patient to return to work when they are ready- and to avoid future
flare ups of their symptoms.
Dr. Glaser and Dr. Goodman founded the Pain Specialists
of Greater Chicago in 2001. They are acknowledged as leaders in
field of interventional pain management because of their commitment
to their patients as well as their commitment to excellence in this
new and vitally important specialty.

He was re-elected to this prestigious post last year. He was also elected to serve as the Vice President of ISIPP. Prior to his election to the national board, Dr. Glaser was elected and served two terms as the President of the Illinois Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ISIPP), a subchapter of ASIPP.
Dr. Glaser became a diplomate of the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP) the first year it was offered. This is acknowledged to be the highest level of credentialing for the field of interventional pain management. In 2010, he was selected as an examiner for ABIPP. He is also a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice, a certification given by the World Institute of Pain. Dr. Glaser has also been re-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in the sub-specialty of pain management.

ISIS was the first society to provide training by experts in the performance of spinal injections. He is now an Instructor for ASIPP, the society that has eclipsed ISIS as the leading organization representing the field of interventional pain management and promoting excellence in this field. As an instructor, he teaches other physicians minimally invasive spinal procedures on cadavers at national courses. He also presents continuing medical education lectures at ASIPP meetings.
Dr. Glaser was heavily involved in the lobbying efforts required to ensure passage of the NASPER bill. This bill was written by the founder of ASIPP, Dr. Lax Manchikanti, and is instrumental in fighting prescription drug abuse while maintaining access to appropriate care. Dr. Glaser and Dr. Goodman presented this vital legislation to Senator Richard Durbin who co-sponsored it in the Senate and it was signed into law in 2005.
Dr. Glaser continues to work closely with the Illinois Department of Health and the chief pharmacist to implement this program in Illinois after the governor signed it into law in 2008. He has been appointed to the IL Prescription Monitoring Advisory Committee to accomplish this goal. He also speaks to multiple physician groups and other health providers about the risks of diversion and abuse of controlled substances as well as the benefits of prescribing opioid medications for the treatment of chronic pain.
Dr. Glaser has served as an advisor to multiple pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment companies but has recently limited these activities secondary to his board position. He also speaks to multiple physician groups and other health providers about the significant risks as well as the benefits of prescribing opioid medications for the treatment of chronic pain. He has been interviewed on TV, radio, and in print on many subjects pertaining to pain and its treatment.
